Based on a new photographic technique he has developed, Ralph Steadman's new book, Paranoids, a series of Polaroid caricatures of the rich, the not so rich and the famous, is laced with the savagery and wit that have become his trademarks.
Seen through the combined lenses of the camera and the eye of the satirist, the British Royal Family, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, the stars of Dynasty and Dallas, artists, politicians, writers and many other prominent people both dead and alive will never look the same again.
Ralph Steadman has rapidly established himself as one of England's foremost illustrators and artists. Apart from his notable collaboration with Hunter S Thompson, he has illustrated numerous titles, including most recently, Sigmund Freud and I Leonardo. A compilation of his work to date, Between the Eyes, was published 1984. In 1985 Harrap published his illustrated edition of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
