Farmworker Awareness Poster Art Pop-Up!
Join us on Saturday, April 9th down at the Ferry Building!
We're excited to partner with Foodwise (formerly CUESA) for a farmworker awareness poster art pop-up at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturday, April 9, between 9 am-1 pm.
Join us for a live screen-printing demo and poster giveaway in conjunction with the exhibition Turning the Table: Awareness for Farmworker Equity. See Project Artivism’s bicycle-powered screen printer in action and take home a free farmworker awareness poster designed by artist Brenda Barrios.
Poster art has historically brought attention to important social and political movements. With the help of artist’s messages and images these posters spark interest and move people to take action in support of cultural change. Artist Brenda Barrios is a multidisciplinary Fine Artist UCLA Art Student From Pasadena, California. Brenda is First Generation, nontraditional student with disabilities. Brenda loves to create different types of art and enjoys creating art through various artistic mediums. Art has been in Barrios’s Life since she was young, but it was only in 2018, when she was hospitalized, that she realized she wanted to continue her journey with art in higher education. Her passion for art bloomed when she took a screen-printing class.
Brenda will be joining us to talk more about her work around farmworker and food justice. This free event takes place at the Foodwise Classroom (the green tent in front of the Ferry Building) at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.
