Haight Street Art Center invites the community to experience a special series of public programs celebrating the exhibition, Forever Grateful, Golden Gate Park.

Conversations

 

Forever Grateful Conversations occurs on Tuesdays during the run of the exhibition. Experience first-hand stories, rare images, and conversations — a chance to hear the about the exhibition's material culture explained by the photographers, tapers, archivists, and road crew who lived the history.

 

Tuesday, September 15, at 7:30 pm - Grateful Guitars

Andy Logan of Grateful Guitars Foundation and musician Alex Jordan revisit the instruments that defined Bob Weir's sound, with stories, photographs, and live demonstrations.

Tuesday, September 22, at 7:30 pm - The Art of Grateful Dead Tapers

Charlie Miller, Mark Rodriguez, and Betty Cantor-Jackson on the craft, gear, and community behind the tape trees that preserved four decades of live sound.   Mark Gonzales' book signing following panel discussion.

Tuesday, September 29, at 7:30 pm - San Francisco's Big Five and the Psychedelic Poster Revolution

A special preview screening of the documentary, followed by a Q&A with the Haight Street Art Center Executive Director, Kelly Harris. 

Tuesday, October 13, at 7:30 pm - Wall of Sound

Legendary crew chief Steve Parish, joined by additional guests, on building and touring the most ambitious sound system in rock history.

Tuesday, October 24, at 7:30 pm - Furthur: A History of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters' Bus

Dr. Freddy Hahne, Susana Millman, and Matthew Rick trace the road from Kesey's Bus to Golden Gate Park.  TBD day/time - possibly 10/24
