Print Studio Classes FAQs

How do I sign up for a class if I’m a studio member?
Studio members should email Rebecca directly at rebecca@haightstreetart.org to register using their membership.
How does the schedule work for Screen Printing Basics?
Although Screen Printing Basics runs over four weeks, it’s a three-session class.
For the final session, the class splits into two smaller printing groups. Students will choose one of two available print dates for their last session.
Where do classes take place?
All classes meet at Haight Street Art Center, 215 Haight Street in the upstairs print studio, accessible by elevator. You’ll receive an email about a week before your class begins with arrival details and what to bring. All materials provided.
Do I need prior experience to take a class?
No experience or art background required. Most of our classes are designed for beginners or those returning to printmaking after a break.
We also offer intermediate and occasional advanced-level classes for students with prior experience (with us, or elsewhere) who want to build on their skills or explore specific techniques.
Can I use Open Studio hours if I’ve already taken a class elsewhere?
Please complete a class with us to access open studio hours, which happen about once a week for self-directed projects. If you have prior printmaking experience from another studio, we still ask you get oriented with a class first to become familiar with our studio equipment, policies, and workflow.

How can I pick up my work?
If you’ve left work to dry after class or open studio, you can stop by anytime we’re open: Thursday-Sunday, 12- 6 pm.
  • Prints: Stored in the center drawer labeled “Ongoing Student Work” in the print studio.
  • T-shirts / textiles: Stored in a small locker in the back of the studio labeled for textile pickup.

What happens if a class is canceled?
If a class doesn’t reach its minimum enrollment, it will be canceled a few days before the start date and all participants will receive a full refund.
