"The Seed" is the first rock poster of the Psychedelic Era. Inspired by a 1914 advertisement for the “Great Kar-Mi Troupe,” an Edwardian Era vaudeville act that promised to perform at “The Limit of the Marvelous,” the 10-by14-inch flyer was designed by Charlatans keyboardist Mike Ferguson and bandmate George Hunter. It advertised their band’s six-week, acid-soaked run at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, Nevada, during the summer of 1965.

Screen printed poster from the original, Mike Ferguson and George Hunter, The Seed, 1965
