Sophia Zarders is an illustrator and comic artist from Long Beach, CA. Their editorial illustrations have graced the covers of Fiyah Literary Magazine and The Socialist Review, and have been published in The Nation, Zora, and other publications. Their comic, “Our Lady of Cacophony,” is printed monthly in Razorcake, and they have been commissioned by organizations such as the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and Forward Together. Sophia’s self-published books include You’re Funny For A…, an illustrated guide to woman and trans comedians in today’s stand-up scene, and Jesus Freak, an ongoing comic series combining the artist’s love of cult horror films and Catholic school nostalgia. Sophia is a proud zine creator and pop culture queen who is constantly consuming classic films and reality television when they aren’t working on their craft. They are currently quarantining with their family and Bobo, their beloved canine friend.
