Bio
Joyce Hsu is an interdisciplinary artist and designer with background in both art and architecture. She received her Master of Fine Arts at the San Francisco Art Institute and her Master of Architecture at California College of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited internationally.

We worked with City Studio, Collective Action Studio and Project Artivism to create Artivate: Feminism Now! exploring feminism and other activist ideologies and how they continue to have power in the current #MeToo environment, both in the studio and out in public.

Haight Street Art Center’s Annual Invitational Screen Print Show, an opportunity for artists to visit San Francisco and produce Screen Prints on location in the HSAC print studio.

The Haight Street Art Center is delighted to present Grand Legacy, which looks at the people behind Tea Lautrec Litho, a San Francisco-based print and poster studio, and the studio’s cultural impact on a generation of artists and activists.
Queer Visions
The Haight Street Art Center (HSAC) is proud to present Queer Visions, an exhibition that brings together LGBTQ+ artists and institutions to explore the role of nightlife in the creation of queer community in San Francisco as well as the importance of chosen families and genealogies in the shaping of individual queer identities. Anchored by a display of pinbacks from the Stud Archive, the exhibition will look at iconic taverns and gathering places in San Francisco that have provided haven and joy for the LGBTQ+ community since the 1960s, as well as work by young queer artists considering the role of their queer families and role models in their sense of self.
Furthur Magic: A Psychedelic Poster Journey
In partnership with San Francisco Recreation and Parks, the Haight Street Art Center is excited to present Furthur Magic: A Psychedelic Poster Journey. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Golden Gate Park, this exhibition explores psychedelic poster art of the 1960s, especially in the Haight, psychedelic events in Golden Gate Park, and the ongoing legacy of the psychedelic events and styles pioneered in both places. The exhibition will be open April 15th to May 16th, Thu-Sun from 11am-5pm and is free to the public.
Living In The Past: An Artist Residency Project with Jeremy Fish
Living In The Past is on view now through June 6 at Haight Street Art Center Jeremy Fish has become, over the last twenty-five years, one of San Francisco’s most recognizable and beloved artists. While Fish is usually based in North Beach, he spent the end of 2020 living and working in the Doolan-Larson Residence and Storefronts, a national historic landmark at the corner of Haight and Ashbury.
Bridging Generations, Celebrating the Year of the Ox
This year is the Year of the Ox, a time that reflects a commitment to hard work, responsibility, and discipline, all characteristics of the ox. As we mourn and recover from the ravages of the pandemic, we believe it is critically important to acknowledge the often-invisible work of caretakers, and the extraordinary loneliness and isolation so many have experienced over the last year.

Trans Resilience is Powerful
The Haight Street Art Center is proud to host this display of work created to commemorate the Trans Day of Resilience, which takes place every year on November 20th. Derived from the Trans Day of Remembrance, an annual memorial to trans folks murdered in the epidemic of violence perpetuated in particular against Black trans women and femmes, the Trans Day of Resilience presents an opportunity to turn mourning into radical imagining. What might a world look like in which trans stories, art, and identities are centered, protected, and nurtured? How might this imagining, in turn, set us all free?

2020 Redux
With two long months still ahead, and with so much at stake, it might seem the only thing certain about 2020 is uncertainty. During this bizarre and pretty scary time, Haight Street Art Center hopes and asks you to relax, wear a mask, and look at amazing art.
Kelly Harris Joins Haight Street Art Center As Its New Executive Director
The Haight Street Art Center today announced the hiring of Kelly Harris as its new executive director. Harris brings 10 years of diverse experience to the Art Center in the areas of communications, fundraising, program development, management and artistic performance.
The Silence of the Good Opens Oct 10
The Haight Street Art Center will open an outdoor and on-line exhibition on October 10 to consider the history of voting in America and encourage voting in the 2020 election. The Silence of the Good is free of charge and will remain on exhibit through November 15. The exhibition is located in the Alchemy Community Garden at 155 Laguna Street in Hayes Valley, San Francisco, which is open daily during daylight hours.
19th Amendment: 2020 Vision Open Aug 26 to Sep 30
The Haight Street Art Center is honored to announce an upcoming exhibition in commemoration of the passage of the 19th Amendment. On August 26 (the day that the Amendment was passed into law), HSAC will unveil in an outdoor display and release for sale online the work of 22 women and non-binary artists.
The exhibition is now on view in the Garden Gallery 7am-9pm and online 24/7.
